Joseph (Joe) Lukasik is a multi-instrumentalist and award winning composer with numerous recording credits. Educated at the Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Division, the Eastman School of Music and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Joe was the founding director of the Music Technology program of the University of Colorado College of Music in Boulder and member of the Composition, Theory and Jazz faculties.
Joe has performed at venues including New York’s Carnegie Hall, The Knitting Factory, Colorado’s Fox, Gothic and Boulder Theaters, and music festivals including Sound True’s Wake Up Festival, the Boulder Jewish Festival and is active performing a wide array of musical styles though specializing in Jazz and Klezmer music. He has been the featured clarinet soloist with the Parker Symphony, the Broomfield Symphony, and the Wonderbound Dance Company of Colorado.
As a composer, he has had several commercial releases of his works and performances of his music at the World Saxophone Congress in Italy and the Tolosa International Choral Competition in Spain. Joe was awarded commissions by various solo artists and ensembles including the Adirondack Wind Ensemble, Metamusic Chamber Ensemble, the Broomfield Symphony, and was awarded the Barlow international prize for his Choral Competition Ho Hiyuwaye (A Voice I Send) performed by the Dale Warland Singers in Minneapolis.
Not content with just music, Joe is active as a visual and multimedia artist, creating works with video, interactive technology and textiles.
